Description

15 Night Cruise sailing from Athens to Dubai aboard Silver Whisper. 15 Night Cruise sailing from Athens to Dubai aboard Silver Whisper.

With Silver Whisper, Silversea has taken its award-winning concept of elegant, all-suite ultra-luxury ships to the next level by incorporating technological innovations and guest suggestions to create this extraordinary vessel designed to carry Silversea's tradition of all-inclusive luxury and style into the new millennium. The ships have the highest space-to-passenger ratio in the industry at 74, providing more space per passenger than any other cruise ship. Space ratio is derived by dividing a vessel's gross tonnage, which is a volume measurement of its interior space, by its lower berth capacity.

Silversea’s service is simply the world’s best. It is a philosophy, an attitude – complemented by distinctive European style and inherent in all that we do. Achieving perfection is driven by our desire to please. To see you smile. It begins the moment you step aboard with a warm welcome and a flute of champagne, and follows throughout your voyage with an unspoken anticipation of your needs. Sailing on Silversea’s intimate ships is like visiting a friend’s home; you’re greeted by name and your personal preferences are always remembered.

Highlights Include:

Athens (Piraeus), Greece
The landmark hill of the Acropolis looms over Greece's busy metropolis. This age-old symbol of Athens was built by the Athenians during the 5th century BC in honor of the goddess Athena, patroness of the city. The temple complex was regarded as a citadel of the gods, with the Parthenon standing out as the most architecturally sophisticated temple of that period.
In 1834, Athens became the capital of modern Greece with a population of fewer than 10,000. Today, about a third of the country's more than four million people live in the city. The central area of modern Athens is relatively small, stretching from the Acropolis to Mount Lycabettus. Its layout is simple: three main streets - Stadiou, Venizelou and Akademias - link the two main squares, Syntagma and Omonia. Despite its traffic congestion and massive air pollution, the city is a must-see destination for anyone traveling to Greece. A stroll around the main squares or in areas off the beaten path can provide a feel of the unique character of Athens. Observe the activities at the central market or simply enjoy a cool beverage in one of Athens' many sidewalk cafés.

The real treasures of Athens are found in its classical art and architecture, which date back to the very beginning of Western civilization. The highlight remains the Acropolis complex as it has been since the 5th century BC. In addition, there is the National Archaeological Museum, which contains one of the most exciting and complete collections of antiquities in the world.

Safaga, Egypt
The port city of Safaga is located on the western flank of the Red Sea, across from the shores of Saudi Arabia. The dusty streets are for the most part quiet, save for the occasional truck or bus. Diving enthusiasts come to the few resort hotels located north of Safaga to enjoy one of the world's best and relatively unspoiled locations for underwater exploration. Their number is steadily increasing. As a result, Safaga’s facilities are gradually improving.

For cruise vessels, Safaga serves as the starting point for excursions to Luxor, which ranks among the most important destinations in Egypt. Otherwise, Safaga itself has very little to offer and guests not going to Luxor will find limited activities to keep them busy in this port.

Dubai, U.A.E.
Known as the City of Merchants, Dubai is the second largest of the seven Emirates that make up the UAE. In the entire Gulf, there is no place quite like Dubai. Its history began in the 1830s when the city broke away from Abu Dhabi and became a center of commerce and trading in its own right. In fact, Dubai's wealth is founded on trade, not oil. When oil was discovered in 1966, it merely contributed to the city's prosperity and sped up modernization.

Modern development began at the turn of the last century with heavy import-export trading, mainly in gold. What opium was to the growth of Hong Kong, gold was to Dubai. As the leading center for business and tourism in the Middle East, Dubai offers a fascinating kaleidoscope of contrasts in a distinctive blend of modern city and timeless desert, east and west, old and new. As an exotic destination with a cosmopolitan lifestyle, Dubai combines the comfort and conveniences of the Western world with the unique charm of Arabia. Even with a high degree of tolerance for different lifestyles, Dubai remains close to its heritage.

Dubai's souqs and shopping malls are crammed with goods - at some of the world's best prices. But there is more to the city than shopping. Visitors find an outstanding museum and superb recreational facilities, ranging from golf and watersports to desert safaris and dhow cruises. As the sports capital of the Middle East, Dubai boasts four championship golf courses; it is a regular fixture on the European and Asian PGA circuits and hosts the Dubai World Cup - known as the world's richest horse race. An endless array of restaurants and nightspots offers a wide choice of cuisine and entertainment.

Dubai is a place of fascinating contrasts, a distinct blend of modern city, timeless deserts, rugged mountains and miles of sandy beaches. The streets are clean and safe – Interpol has voted Dubai as one of the safest cities in the world. With so many attractive attributes, it is not surprising that Dubai rates highly with world-class travelers, businessmen and the international jet set.
